A drunk photographer on a humid night with a cold camera
Last night, I staggered back from the bars of Lang Kwai Fong, a little bit worse for wear. In my illogical state of mind I thought it would be clever to take a photo with the M8 on its highest ISO setting. I knew it would be noisy, but wanted to see how Noise Ninja could handle it.
Taking a camera from an air conditioned room outside, on a humid night, isn't the cleverest thing to do, but the misting on the lens created some nice effects.
exposure 3 sec.
Aperture f/16

Traffic
Traffic coming along the flyover, onto Cotton Tree Drive. Long exposure without a flash to creat the white streaks of the headlights. I also like the starring of the street lamps

beer taps
I was a little surprised by the lack of response to last weeks bar quiz. Probably it was so easy, that you all couldn't be bothered to submit your answers. With the guitars on the wall and the tall bar shelfing behind as the give aways, I expected a lot of people to correctly identify it as Carnegies.
So, this week I am making it a little harder. The bar is on D'aguilar Street, and there is a big clue in the picture!

Slow speed high speed
These were taken in one of those paper goods shops in Western District. The first shot was taken at a slow shutter speed, the second at a higher speed.

Pirates of Lan Kwai Fong
These three delightful pirates allowed me to take their picture last night in Lan Kwai Fong.

Blue House
On Stone Nullah Lane is this blue coloured building. Rumour has it that the only colour paint the council had left was blue.

Hong Kong Fireworks Display
The other evening I was camped by the HK Convention centre, waiting for the fireworks to start. I looked around and saw this photo opportunity.
It was taken with a wide angle lens, with a nice bit of bokeh coming from the top left corner.
Shame about the security guard who got in the way!

Bar of the week
New feature for this blog - the bar of the week. Every week I plan to post a picture of a bar in Hong Kong (OK I know that favours people who know Hong Kong) and you have to guess the name of the establishment. No prizes apart from knowing that you are a bigger bar crawler than me.
We will start with an easy one from Wanchai. Answer next Monday. Good luck!

Temple roof
I love the ornate details that you see on temple roofs. This one is Hung Sing Fisherman's temple in Wanchai. Apparently Queen's Road East used to be on the shoreline!

Kowloon Bell Tower
I really like the symetry of this shot, with the refection in the foreground. Its just a shame about the crowd barriers and the scaffolding on the building behind

hksonetlumiere 024
One of my favourite shots I have taken at night in Hong Kong. Shame about the smudge on the left hand side of the photo, though.

canvas sided truck
These canvas sided trucks are a must for deliveries in Hong Kong.
And they are colourful, but sometimes you can't guess what's inside them and sometimes you probably don't want to know!

Lion and the bell tower 3638
I went to the DSragon & Lion Dancing in Kowloon, yesterday. At the start it was a massive scrum, with TV crews, the press and, like me, amateur photographers; but once the procession moved off the press disappeared, which left the Convention Centre Plaza clear for the amateur photographers and the later Dragon and Lion teams.

hong kong fruit stall
I took this phot back in March, from the Mid-levels Escalator, looking down on a fruit strall. Great angle!
